Join our Walk for Freedom for 130 bears

After a 2 year break we are reviving the Wimbledon Common Walk for Freedom and this year it will coincide with the Stables Open Day, with lots of family fun and fun dog shows.  Come and join us for our walk and then stay on to enjoy a day on beautiful Wimbledon Common; your canine companions could even enter one or more of the dog shows.

Our walk will raise funds to help us adopt one of 130 bears on a bear farm in Nanning, Southern China, which is being converted into a sanctuary by Animals Asia.  The funds we raise for our bear will directly help with the conversion as this will provide her with all she needs for the first two years of being looked after by Animals Asia.

Be part of the change and walk with us for their FREEDOM

on Sunday 14 September at 11.00am (more details below)

You can book your place online or contact us for a booking form or further information using the form below.  Please note that the online booking incurs a small booking fee.

We would love you to raise as much sponsorship as possible too.  You can download a sponsorship form here or use the form below to request one.

If you haven’t met little Smudge yet, the last moon bear cub to be born in captivity on the Nanning farm, have a look at the little video here.  Luckily she will never know the tortures of bile extraction.

Campaigning for Moon Bears on Wimbledon Common

We have a stall at the Stables Open Day on Wimbledon Common this weekend. It’s an event that just keeps growing from year to year and has something for everyone.  We will have a selection of Animals Asia merchandise, some excellent donated goods and our very popular toy tombola – and of course petitions to sign.

As we don’t have to pay for the stall all monies we raise on the day will go to Animals Asia, so please do come along and see us if you’re in the area.  Bring friends and family and don’t forget your canine companions if you have any – you may want to enter them into one of the fun dog shows.

Creatures of the Night Safari on Wimbledon Common

Our Creatures of the Night Safari on Wimbledon Common in aid of Animals Asia is fast approaching and we still have a couple of places left.  This is a fabulous guided walk by Rachel Holmes, an ecologist and volunteer for Animals Asia, who will give us a fascinating insight into the lives of bats on Wimbledon Common and other nocturnal wildlife.

We are meeting at the Windmill car park at 8.30pm on Saturday 31st August where we’re hoping that one of the rangers will be able to give a brief talk about the common before we set off on our mini safari.  We had very positive feedback last year and we’re sure this walk will be just as exciting and informative.

The registration fee is £10 and we are suggesting a minimum sponsorship/donation of £20.  Your registration fee covers this event’s costs, while your sponsorship money or donation directly helps the animals you care about.

You can either book and pay online here or complete the form below if you would prefer to pay by cheque.  We can then send you the address to post the cheque to.  Please note that the online booking is subject to a small booking fee.
