Join our Walk for Freedom for 130 bears

After a 2 year break we are reviving the Wimbledon Common Walk for Freedom and this year it will coincide with the Stables Open Day, with lots of family fun and fun dog shows.  Come and join us for our walk and then stay on to enjoy a day on beautiful Wimbledon Common; your canine companions could even enter one or more of the dog shows.

Our walk will raise funds to help us adopt one of 130 bears on a bear farm in Nanning, Southern China, which is being converted into a sanctuary by Animals Asia.  The funds we raise for our bear will directly help with the conversion as this will provide her with all she needs for the first two years of being looked after by Animals Asia.

Hampstead Heath Walk for Freedom 2013

Make your steps count for the suffering animals in Asia.

Sunday 19 May, registration 10.30am 2.5 miles or 5 miles

Members of the London Animals Asia Support Group will be helping out at this event organised by the Animals Asia UK office.  It would be wonderful to see many of you there walking for the animals.  You will help raise some of those vital funds and will raise awareness by walking on the busy heath.

The walk is led by Simon Lee, the Superintendent of Hampstead Heath, who will guide us by some of the Heath’s most beautiful places including The Pergola, Heath House and Pitt’s Garden.

Every step you take and pound you raise helps us move a step closer to ending the horrific bear bile industry as well as changing hearts and minds towards cats and dogs in Asia, who are tortured and brutally slaughtered for the food and fur industries.

Please note there is no on site car parking but plenty of parking in the surrounding area and dogs must be kept on leads within Golders Hill Park.

Creatures of the Night Safari – 16 September 2012

This year our Wimbledon Common Walk for Freedom is a little different, taking place at dusk and giving a rare opportunity to observe some of London’s bat species, and learn more about them and other inhabitants of the common.

The walk will be led by a bat expert with a bat detector, and we will have the opportunity to discuss our observations after the walk when hot drinks and snacks will be available for anyone needing to warm up.

The registration fee for this walk is £10 and the suggested minimum sponsorship/donation £25.  The registration fee will cover the cost of the event and the sponsorship money or donation directly helps the animals you care about.

Registration will be at 7.15pm at the Windmill on Wimbledon Common.  Due to health and safety reasons numbers for this walk are limited to 20.  Well behaved dogs are very welcome but as we are looking for other wildlife as well as bats we would ask for dogs to be kept on a lead.
